We are sad to report that Angelina Jolie’s mother, actress Marcheline Bertrand ( 1983’s The Man Who Loved Women) passed away on Saturday. Angelina said in a statement that her mother was surrounded by herself, Angie’s brother James Haven, and Angie’s partner Brad Pitt in her Cedar-Sinai hospital room at the end of her nearly decade long battle with cancer.

The family is planning a private funeral and are asking that instead of gifts, people make donations to the Women’s Cancer Research Institute at Cedars-Sinai.

Bertrand, who had small roles in movies including 1983’s The Man Who Loved Women, raised Jolie and brother Haven by herself after divorcing their father, Oscar-winning actor Jon Voight, when Jolie was a toddler.

When granddaughter Shiloh was born in May, Bertrand told PEOPLE: “My heart is overflowing with joy with the new arrival of Brad and Angelina’s third child. Maddox, Zahara and Shiloh are deeply loved children. They have very kind and caring parents who love and support each other in every way.”

Tara Conner is trying to kick the drinking habit. In her interview with PEOPLE, Conner also admits that she tried drugs in addition to alcohol, and that she took her first drink at the age of 14. She checked out of the Pennsylvania facility on Sunday.

Miss USA Tara Conner is “a completely different person” since going through rehab, she tells PEOPLE in an exclusive interview.

“My life has completely changed,” she said Friday. “I’m a completely different person out of rehab. Before I entered rehab I hardly knew who I was. I felt like I was floating and I just needed someone to pull me down.”

The Kentucky native, who turned 21 on Dec. 18, initially entered a rehabilitation center in Pennsylvania on Dec. 21, following allegations of hard partying, indiscretions with men and unreliability. She spent 31 days there – including Christmas and New Year’s Eve.

Britney Spears is getting from bad to worst. First, she does not wear panties. Now she throws money for people to pick up. City Rag is reporting on the Mike Walker’s visit to the Howard Stern show yesterday. Mike Walker talked about Britney Spears being a cheap tipper and told a recent story.

Britney Spears was picking up her car at an L.A restaurant and dumped a pile of change on the pavement while reaching for her ticket. When the valet pulled up with her car, she pointed at the change and said “there’s your tip” adding “Im sure there’s a lot of money over there but I don’t have time to pick it up” and making the poor dude scrape $5 in coin off the ground.”

I’m taking a short break this weekend at Swiss-Garden Resort Damai Laut. Saw the nice sunset yesterday and hanged out at the Blue Chip Lounge till 11pm. It was raining yesterday night too. This place is pretty cool. Gonna try the sauna and jacuzzi later at 7pm. Enjoy your weekend!

Angelina Jolie travels to Vietnam for her Maddox Jolie-Pitt Project. Ain’t she hardworking?

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt may be setting up house in New Orleans, but Jolie wasn’t there last week – she was in Vietnam.

The actress traveled to the Asian country to take a meeting on behalf of the Maddox Jolie-Pitt Project, her charity aiding her son’s native country of Cambodia.
